The Most Common Areas of the Body for Laser Hair Removal
Posted on Tue, Sep 13, 2011
Laser hair removal is safe and effective on most parts of the body, but its key advantage over traditional methods like shaving and waxing is that it doesn’t irritate sensitive areas as much. Lasers are also preferable to electrolysis, which requires that each hair is removed one at a time. Not only is electrolysis time-consuming for areas with a lot of hair, but it stings with every hair that’s removed.
Lasers can be used safely on most parts of the body except inside the nose and ears. However, the most common areas for laser hair removal are:

How many treatments do you need?
In most cases, at least five treatments are required to achieve the best results. Hair removal is not immediate. The laser treats the hair follicles so that they fall out within two weeks after your procedure.
While no hair removal method is permanent, laser procedures can reduce the hair by 70-90%, and regrowth is much lighter in color and finer in texture. This means that any hair that grows back will be much less noticeable.
Avoiding Discomfort in the Most Sensitive Areas
Yes, laser hair removal is less painful on sensitive areas of the body than other methods, but it can still cause a tingling or slight snapping sensation. Some people also experience some mild redness and irritation afterward. So, what do we do to keep your discomfort to a minimum?
We apply protective cooling gel before and after your treatment, and you can take an over-the-counter pain medication such as Tylenol or ibuprofen an hour or two before your procedure.
Even if you have some irritation, the effects are typically less than with the other hair removal methods you have tried in the past. This is why no anesthesia is necessary for laser hair removal. Any slight reddening or swelling is usually gone within just an hour after your treatment.
The laser does not cut your skin or burn it, so you don’t require any bandages. You can go back to your normal activities right away with absolutely no down time.
If you’re tired of repeated, painful hair removal methods, laser hair removal is a great alternative – particularly for sensitive skin areas and parts of the body with considerable hair.
