Healing body and mind after cosmetic surgery.

By: Zoe Johnson

Whether you are here for a simple anti-aging procedure, or a more complicated facelift, breast enhancement or rhinoplasty, our experienced team will guide you through your recovery process.

Creating a positive healing experience

healing body mindAt the Cosmetic Centers of Hawaii, recovery begins well prior to surgery day. We work closely with you to plan the steps you’ll need to take to ensure a quick, effective recovery process. A large part of the healing phase involves your mental preparedness, awareness of how a surgical procedure can affect your mental state, and the state of those closest to you. By working together, we can create a positive experience for all involved.

Patience is key

Once you have the procedure you waited a long time for, it is time to be patient and wait, again, for your body to heal. Unfortunately, a surgeon’s scalpel is not a magic wand and healing will occur at different rates for different people. You must allow yourself to heal and be aware it is natural to be impatient for the results and a little anxious because you often look worse before you look better. Being aware this can happen will help you understand these normal feelings.

The importance of a good support system

surgical team supportSharing your experience with family and friends can help give you a support system during your recovery, but realize they may unintentionally make you question your decision with their natural concern for your well-being during your recovery. While you may think you’re looking pretty rough around the edges, we may tell you are healing beautifully. Trust us. We will share with you if there is a concern, so if we tell you everything is healing normally, it is.

You are the most important person in your recovery

Your healing will depend on many things such as your general health, your willingness to follow instructions, and your mental attitude toward recovery. While our surgeons can perform the surgery, they cannot “heal” you. It is up to you to be an active participant in your recovery process to help your body heal the best that it can. Following all of our instructions is very important, as is working with us to address any complications that may arise. Even surgeries that are done exactly right can have complications during recovery. Every body responds to surgery and heals differently.

Working together to achieve your goals

It is important that you approach your surgery and especially your recovery with the mindset that we are a team, and you are an integral part of that team. We must trust each other to be working toward a common goal: your successful results. Our surgeons enjoy their work, and strive to achieve an ideal result during every surgery for every patient. We have rigorous standards that staff must meet in order to be involved in your care. We are looking forward to working with you to achieve a great result. In the unlikely event that you do have a complication, we are committed to working with you to resolution. We need you to be just as committed to working with us under these circumstances.

A positive experience and an optimal outcome takes teamwork between you and your surgical team. Keep these points in mind, and you’ll have all the tools you need to ensure your great result!

  • Preparation: take the time to learn exactly what your procedure involves from start to finish, including ways in which you can optimize your results.
  • Be patient with yourself during your recovery. You will look and feel worse before you look and feel better, this takes mental resilience.
  • Surround yourself with supportive people. Sometimes even those closest to you can unwittingly be a hindrance in your recovery.
  • You are the M.V.P. on your healing team, be an active participant, and be in tune with your body’s needs.
  • At the Cosmetic Centers of Hawaii, your results are our number one priority. We are committed to working with you to achieve your goals. Together, we’ll have you looking and feeling your best self!

The entire staff has me beginning to feel like a full-fledged woman. I am beginning to like the skin I wear! Feel like each one of you really, really cares about me...without pointing out how really old I am....helping me to stay positive. You know...young inside and slightly wiser and positive outside. Love you all.
