Important consultation questions to ask about nose surgery.

Building open patient-doctor communication is important to the success of any surgical procedure. I have prepared the following guide to assist you during your consultations with me and my staff. I want to encourage you to ask me about my approach to surgery, my experience with your type of procedure, and ways we can make your surgery as comfortable as possible.
Experience
As you may already know, I am a board certified member of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), the leading professional medical society dedicated to patient safety and physician education in cosmetic surgery. In addition, I am board certified by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. In the last 15 years, I have performed hundreds of rhinoplasty procedures. While Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, I taught dozens of surgery residents rhinoplasty surgical techniques.
Case Studies
As part of our consultation, we will discuss my experience in working with similar medical cases such as yours. I will share with you before and after photographs of my past nose surgery patients, and you will be able to see the effects of your own procedure using our state-of-the-art computerized VECTRA X3 3D surgical simulation system.
I encourage you to ask me many questions throughout this process. The nose has many anatomical parts that work together in particular ways, and I encourage you to learn as much as possible about how the effects of surgery will improve the performance and appearance of your nose.
Day of Surgery: Before and After
In addition to the surgery itself, it’s also important to prepare both mentally and physically in the days leading up to and following your surgery. I encourage all patients to quit smoking and to stop using anti-inflammatory drugs before their procedure. I will also talk to you about pain management and ways we can help manage any discomfort and swelling that typically follows immediately after surgery and the first few days afterward. Our priority is to care for your health before, during and after your procedure. I will give you some at-home care techniques that will make your recovery more comfortable, including guidelines for what to eat and drink and which types of vitamins and supplements have been most useful to other patients during their recovery period.
